4 Unique Restaurants to Eat at in Amsterdam

Amsterdam does not only offer a lot of sightseeing opportunities, museums and canals but also a wide array of interesting and unique restaurants. With a lot of tiny streets and houses it can be difficult at times to spot a place. Therefore, it might be wise to do some research on where you want to eat rather than just wondering around and hoping to spot the right place on the go. After I spent about a year living in Amsterdam here are 4 of my favourite restaurants that I would definitely recommend.

Bulls and Dogs

I believe we discovered this place because of their milk shakes on Instagram. The milk shakes were great but they also have a huge selection of hot dogs.

€€ Hotdogs around €7-8; Milkshakes €7; there is a vegetarian hotdog but otherwise probably not as vegetarian friendly

Address: Van Woustraat 58, 1073 LN Amsterdam (De Pijp)

Opening times: Monday to Sunday 12 – 10pm

Avocado Show

This place is quite famous, mainly because every dish contains avocado. If you don’t like avocado then this probably it not the place to go to. The one in De Pijp does not take reservations and it is usually full so be prepared to queue in front of the restaurant for a little while.

Avocado Show has four restaurants (at the time of writing this), however, one is in Brussels. The other 3 are in Amsterdam but one is only for takeaway, which is why I did not include it here.

€€ Mains around €16, lots of vegetarian and vegan options

Address: Daniël Stalpertstraat 61, 1072 XB Amsterdam (De Pijp)

Keizersgracht 449, 1017 DK Amsterdam (downtown)

Opening times: 9am – 5pm (De Pijp)

10am – 9pm (downtown)

Pancake Bakery

You guessed it, this place specialises in pancakes. They have sweet and savoury options. What I liked about it is that they had pancakes named after different countries and based on the country the pancakes differed.

€€ The country pancakes are €16.25, others €13.40; some vegetarian options but probably not vegan

Address: Prinsengracht 191, 1015 DS Amsterdam

Opening times: Monday to Sunday 9am – 9:30pm

Deer Mama Vegan Mylk & Burger Bar

I think this was my favourite place and sadly I only discovered it one week before I left the Netherlands. The restaurant itself is really nicely set up and includes a lot of pink. I loved that they had vegan milk shakes and vegan food in general.

€€ Ramen bowl €13; Burgers from €12; everything is vegan

Address: Ceintuurbaan 71, 1072 EW Amsterdam (De Pijp)

Opening times: Monday to Sunday 11am – 10pm
