A quirky and colorful Bollywood themed with unique food options is now attracting foodies of Dubai and has become the major hotspot in JLT, Dubai. KHAU GALLI is a local language which means Foodie’s Lane and in every city of India, you will find one Khau Galli dedicated to street food. As this restaurant serves famous street food from all over India at one place and therefore Khau Galli(foodie’s lane) totally suits with its concept and menu. In India, street food is favorite of all and mostly all people go to special street food lanes to relieve their day to day stress, a chatting place for youngsters & ladies, where people make friends and many more such things. So in Dubai, if you miss your favorite hometown foodie lane then head to Khau Galli where you will get all desi(authentic) flavors with the same intensity. Khau Galli has a quirky menu with rustic flavors of many places from India, and also with a fusion of western flavors with an Indian twist. The unique fusion of Indian and western foods makes it a perfect choice to dine in Dubai. A perfect combination of home flavors with a blend of western flavors and on top of it, they are served in a very interesting concept to your tables. Now I am taking you to a virtual tour of Khau Galli with many flavors of famous street food of India at one table.

As the concept of this restaurant is desi(authentic) street food and Bollywood Khau Galli and so is the interiors. Famous Bollywood wall posters with renowned dialogues from Bollywood films on the walls make this place a perfect Instragrammable spot. Recycled brightly colored furniture made up of drums, cycle wheels, quirky dialogues with lantern styled chandeliers makes this place a quirky and unique in Dubai. There are many types of seating arrangements like high dining – bar styled, couches, and all seating arrangements have peculiarities and innovative decorations. You can choose your dining style according to your mood and group style.
When you enter the restaurant a typical dummy camera which is used to shoot movies is kept and with the Action, Camera, Cut Playcard commonly used in Bollywood movie shooting till date.
The tiny cashier or reception of this restaurant is made into the autorickshaw(tuk-tuk) frame. Autorickshaw is the lifeline of common people while commuting in India and therefore seeing Autorickshaw(tuk-tuk) frame here took me to nostalgic lanes of my fun memories associated with this mode of transport.
There is outside seating arrangement beside the lake where you can have the view of high-rises with the lake.
And there is the Bollywood type of music beats playing in the background all the time when you enter which keeps the environment very romantic and vibrant.
So let’s get soak into the quirky vibes of this place which has Bollywood styled interiors with many seating styles, colorful couches, and lovely innovative food at Khau Galli, JLT, Dubai.
I chose colorful drums with cushions as my seating with the lake view outside through which I can see the activities on the lake level and tapped my feet the vibrant music playing in the background.
WHAT I ORDERED AT KHAU GALLI, JLT DUBAI
As I have earlier said that the interior of this restaurant is inspired by Bollywood and so is the menu. You would find interesting items on the menu with the quotes used in Bollywood movies. Some menu items are been listed under famous characters or dialogues of Bollywood movies.
We were welcomed by one of the staff members and by Khau Galli who took our order very patiently explaining all the details of the menu.
For STARTERS I ordered CHAAT PLATTER & HOT AND SOUR SOUP
MAIN COURSE
PANEER BUTTER MASALA – A semi-sweet buttery tomato gravy with cottage cheese cubes, seasoned with fresh cream
MIX VEG. – A mild-spicy, mixture of vegetables
VEGETABLE KOFTA – Deep fried vegetable dumplings dipped into spicy Indian gravy.
BUTTER NAANS, TANDOORI ROTI & Phulkas IN BREAD SECTION – Crispy Indian slices of bread roasted in Tandoor(Clay Oven)
TEEN GUNA LAGAAN (Triple Schezwan rice) – This dish is named after famous Bollywood movie “Lagaan” and it is an Indo-Chinese fusion of Schezwan styled spicy rice.
DESSERT – KULFI STICK (PAAN & KESAR FLAVORS) – A famous Indian frozen dessert consisting of thickened sweetened milk with many natural flavors added to it. This is a very popular Indian version of ice-cream.

Overall I am satisfied with the taste and serving size of the food. Some things were just like home-cooked food. A good balance of spices, aromas and consistency in the food preparation.

- Take the lakeside seating as you can have the best views of Dubai high rise with reflecting in the lake.
- Try something new which you had never before.
- Take lots of pictures with rustic interiors of wood and bricks. This restaurant is Instragrammable.
- There are many funny quotes related to food everywhere in the restaurant. Look out for your favorite ones.
